The National Trust Acre
Countryside, history, conservation, play, outdoor adventure – there are many ways people enjoy the National Trust and we’re looking forward to bringing some of them to life at Countryfile Live 2018 with the National Trust acre.
The National Trust will be hosting exciting, stimulating events and fun activities for everyone in the National Trust Acre this summer. Topical conversations about caring for our countryside will take place with special guests at the National Trust Theatre. Foodies can sample and buy from our tenant producers and watch TV chefs on the Farmyard Cookery Theatre. Families can have a mini adventure in the magical 50 things woodland play area.
THE NATIONAL TRUST ACRE
Take part in a debate, climb a tree, or taste some freshly baked treats using ingredients from National Trust tenant farms. They’ll be two theatres, one a platform for talks on farming and the environment, the other a stage for popular cooks and chefs. There’ll be hours of fun for families in the ‘50 things’ woodland play area, too!
50 THINGS WOODLAND
For a truly wild adventure, head down to the magical ‘50 things to do before you’re 11¾’ woodland where kids (big and small) can get stuck in to exploring nature. Whether you’re trying your hand at den building, peering under logs on the hunt for bugs or getting closer to the clouds with a spot of tree climbing, our team will be on hand to show you tips and tricks for making the most of the great outdoors, keeping you inspired in your own nature playgrounds and encouraging you to explore more of the outdoors.
FOOD AND FARMING
Indulge in an array of delicious produce from our tenant producers and whet your appetite as chefs take to the stage, giving demonstrations and sharing top tips, so you can discover how to make the most of quality meat, fruit and veg, or learn how to bake the perfect loaves and cakes. Our chefs will be using some of the tasty and environmentally-sustainable food and drink produced by our tenant farmers, and there'll be plenty of opportunities for you to try some for yourself. From Masterchef winner Saliha Mahmood-Ahmed, eco – chef author of ‘The Natural Cook’ Tom Hunt, to Great British Bake Off winner Holly Bell, butchery expert Henry Herbert and Michelin-starred TV chef Paul Ainsworth we have the kitchen covered.
