The Countryfile Experience

This year at BBC Countryfile Live not only will there be the opportunity to get up close and personal with your favourite presenters at the main theatre show, there’s also the chance to get a real glimpse behind the scenes. The Countryfile Experience, is a new addition to this year’s event at Blenheim.

Celebrating 30 years on air, ‘The Countryfile Experience’ explores every aspect of the TV show and will host an exhibition area taking you behind the scenes, as well as a Q&A theatre show with the presenters themselves. Join us as we delve into the world of Countryfile!

This exciting, interactive experience will give visitors to Countryfile Live the opportunity to find out more about the UK’s favourite factual television programme. This summer marks 30 years since Countryfile first appeared on our screens and this special exhibition will explore how this once small scale, Sunday morning, rural affairs programme has gone from strength to strength since it started in July 1988.

From research to transmission, come and see how the programme is put together and learn more about how each episode is created. They'll be members of the production team on-hand to answer any questions you might have, too.

This behind-the-scenes insight will give you a real chance to discover how the programme is made. From Camera Operators to Production Coordinators, Dubbing Mixers to Directors, Presenters to Producers; there are more than twenty different roles on the programme, each doing their part to pull the show together week after week.

How long does it take to film one programme? Who does what when the crew’s out in the field?  And how do we battle through the Great British weather? You’ll even get the chance to have a go at being Matt Baker or Ellie Harrison, presenting a script to camera. Find out more about the people we’ve met along the way; from craftspeople, farmers and food producers to royalty, ramblers and conservationists. Our rural communities are full of awe-inspiring, dedicated and talented individuals, all with a story to tell.

Please note there is no need to book this activity, there will be seven sessions per day. Please check timings on arrival at the event.

For three decades our beautiful rural landscape has played host to Countryfile. Explore the many locations it’s visited over the years, from mountain and dale to coast and moor, and discover the realities of a Countryfile shoot. Take a seat on a hay bale to hear Anita, Matt, Ellie, John, Adam, Tom and Charlotte recall their favourite stories of life on the Countryfile road. Featuring a rare glimpse into the world of Countryfile, it’s an up-close and personal experience you won’t want to miss!

Please note, The Countryfile Experience will close at 4.30pm on Saturday as we’ll be setting up for the BBC Countryfile Live Summer Party. For more information on this exciting event, please click here.
