Prepare for adventure at Explore Britain sponsored by Blacks
In the Explore Britain area, you’ll find advice on where to go, what to wear, the kit you need and how to read nature’s ‘clues’ to keep your experience safe and memorable.
PREPARE FOR ADVENTURE
Whatever your appetite - guided walks, days out with the kids, foraging, long-distance hikes or extreme camping - there will be expert advice, talks and films to inspire you.
The Explore Britain stage is where we will inspire you to quite literally ‘get outside’. We’ll take you on a journey across Britain walkways and waterways; as well as it’s urban and rural landscapes. It’s where you’ll hear tales of adventures big and small from some of our celebrity guests; including wildlife experts Mike Dilger, Simon King, David Lindo and Brett Westwood who explore the countryside and city skylines through its flora and fauna, wildlife and wilderness. It’s here you can go on an adventure with climber Kenton Cool.
Let us help you to discover a new hobby or interest; perhaps get motivated to join your local walking or fishing club. Take inspiration and advice from the Daily Telegraph’s Richard Madden who will show you some of the best places to break in those walking boots and it’s here you can find out if Nordic Walking with poles is something you might like to try. Hear how and where guests such as Countryfile’s Helen Skelton and Sean Fletcher, BBC Weather’s Carol Kirkwood and Springwatch’s Gillian Burke all relax with some of their favourite places to visit and experience the great outdoors. There’s fishing for all the family with Sarah Collins and great advice and ideas of things to do with your children from Olympic gold medal winning rower Alex Gregory.
You can hear how BBC Question of Sport captain Matt Dawson battled Lyme disease and what you can do to protect yourself; how to preserve the countryside with rural champion Robin Page or join music icon, campaigner and fly fishing enthusiast Feargal Sharkey as he shares his love of England’s chalk rivers and the need to save them for future generations. If survival is your thing then Fraser Christian will give you the do’s and don'ts of outdoor living. There’s something for everyone on Explore Britain.
Blacks are back once more as sponsored of the Explore Britain Area at BBC Countryfile Live, which includes a theatre packed full of exciting talks from experts including former rugby star Matt Dawson, Countryfile's Jules Hudson, bushcraft expert Fraser Christian and Team GB olympic gold medal winning rower Alex Gregory.
