Experience the 2018 STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® British Championship
The STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® British Championship will give audiences a high-octane treat when the original extreme sport returns to BBC Countryfile Live for the third year!
TIMBERSPORTS® roots lie in Canada, the United States, Australia and New Zealand, where workers in the timber industry would hold competitions to determine who was the fastest in a range of wood chopping and sawing disciplines that closely simulated their everyday work. These logging disciplines evolved with time into a series of sporting disciplines that require tremendous athleticism, strength, precision and power.
Today the world’s best athletes compete in national and international events featuring three axe disciplines and three sawing disciplines. Springboard, Underhand Chop and Standing Block Chop are the classic axe disciplines; Single Buck (single-man cross-cut saw), Stock Saw (standard chainsaw) and Hot Saw (tuned, customized chainsaw with up to 80 horsepower) are the sawing disciplines. Athletes compete against each other and the clock.
At Blenheim Palace, the audience will get to see the the nation’s leading logger athletes compete to win the 2018 TIMBERSPORTS® British Pro and Rookie Championships. At the STIHL Stage, you can also watch chainsaw carving demonstrations, hear gardening talks from RHS Chelsea Flower Show winner Jane Moore and learn from the STIHL and VIKING experts, who will be on hand to talk all things chainsaw. There will even be a special show discount on STIHL Cordless tools for visitors.
The STIHL arena also welcomes some of Britain‘s best chainsaw carvers and visitors can also get up close to STIHL’s products and quiz STIHL’s expert staff on top garden tool tips.
